ALERT!  Hampton University Free Online Applications.  August 1, 2023 – August 31, 2023.  Visit www.Hampton.edu (apply).  Required for application: 

  • Letters of Recommendation Deadline November 15, 2023
  • Test Optional for the Class of 2024
  • Scholarship Consideration (3.0 or Higher)
  • Submit SAT 1000 or Higher and ACT 22 or higher

ALERT! University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Meyerhoff Scholars Program (Apply to UMBC Early Action) - Nomination opens July 1, 2023 for fall 2024 entering freshmen. The Meyerhoff Scholars Program is open to all high-achieving high school SENIORS who have an interest in pursuing doctoral study in the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics and who are interested in the advancement of minorities in the sciences and related and related fields.  Students can be nominated for the program and are most typically nominated by their high school administrators, counselors, and teachers.  The Meyerhoff award for in-state residents ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 per academic year.

Northwest High School seniors should submit this UMBC Meyerhoff Scholars Request Nomination Form no later than October 10.  Once your request is received and your counselor is in support of your nomination, your request will be processed, and you will receive a confirmation email sent to your personal and mcpsmd.net accounts.  | Post 6 July 2023 |

RESOURCE:  Military Academy Nomination Information

Job Corps Resources:

  • RESOURCE:  Job Corps...  Learn what the Job Corps can do for you.  The training program is free, including housing if needed, and open to young people ages 16–24 who meet low-income and other eligibility requirements. Students go at their own pace in studying and training, learn employability skills, and earn credentials to start a meaningful career. Center staff are their support network every step of the way.

Montgomery College:

Montgomery College has made available to students opportunities for virtual assistance for all MC related concerns and/or questions.  Northwest students are encouraged to reach out to Nicholas Boyd @ nicholas.boyd@montgomerycollege.edu.  Nicholas Boyd is the College Access and Recruitment Coordinator for Northwest High School students.

  • MC Biotechnology Department Information.  Careers in Biotech!
  • MC First Year Experience (FYE) Summer Bridge Program.  Incoming freshmen - Earn a college credit this summer.  Enroll now!  Receive one college credit and a scholarship (based on class attendance and grade).  Limited space.  For more information visit the MC FYE website.

The Accuplacer @ MC:    The Accuplacer and Alternative Placement Programs are used by the college to determine college readiness for college level courses.  Click here for the most current Accuplacer information.   Placement Test Exemption Criteria.

  • Students planning to transfer to a 4-year post-secondary institution after MC are encouraged to use ARTSYS as part of their college planning.  ARTSYS is the State of Maryland Articulation Information web site.  ARTSYS shows which MC courses are recommended for transferring to specific Maryland colleges and universities.
