Cybersecurity is becoming the most in-demand career field of the modern century. As the need for security for online data grows, so do the varied careers for cybersecurity professionals. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of information security analysts is expected to grow 28% from now to 2026, which is considerably faster than the average of all occupations. Cybersecurity professionals will need to be creative and innovative to prevent hackers from stealing sensitive information or disrupting critical systems.
The Cybersecurity Capstone program explores the dynamic field of cybersecurity and the technologies and tools used to handle threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities. Students in grades 10-12 can earn college credit and valuable CompTIA certifications while preparing for the cybersecurity careers of tomorrow.
This course fulfills the Capstone course requirement for the Computer Science/Code.org Program of Study which is offered in most MCPS high schools. The course is offered at Thomas Edison High School of Technology in both morning and afternoon sessions.
Students interested in enrolling in an existing or a new program at the Edison High School should follow the Edison enrollment processes.
