Take a minute to recognize the achievements of our students for the 2026-2027 school year!

  • Congratulations to Carina Araujo for the selection of her piece, “Fragments of Reality,” to be showcased at the Museum of Illusion in Washington DC.
  • Congratulations to Grant Kuehn, Jaden Li, and Caitlin Webster for officially earning the rank of Eagle Scout after a lot of effort, time, dedication, and commitment.
  • Congratulations to Arav Assija, Leah Wang, and Newton Yang for their performance in the  UMD Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering (CPSE) “Jumpstart Your Engineering Career” Summer Program in Rockville this past summer.  In five short weeks, they designed an engineering solution that solved a real-world problem. Their team was called Team Pipe Patrol, and they walked away as winners of our Engineering Excellence Award at Demo Day.  You can check out the short documentary about their experiences here.

  • Congratulations to 9th grader Austin Stump Manning on being named a finalist in the F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival Short Story Contest! Austin's short story, "It All Started with the Little Blonde Girl with Pigtails", will soon be published on the F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival website.
  • Congratulations to Mr. Kingman and PHS Alumni Oswin Buchet, Alexander Daniels, Eli Ferrara, Vittal Rajagopalan, and Benjamin Ross for their acceptance into the SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur this December.  A diverse group of leading experts chose their submission for a presentation due to its high quality, interest, and impact on the SIGGRAPH Asia Community. Their submission, "Planet Falconia: Mission Possible Using Immersive Visualization to enable Digital Twin of Remote Sensing Data," has been Accepted as a peer-reviewed work for the SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 Educator’s Forum program.
  • Congratulations to Jemimah Lee and Charles Zhao, a violin and piano duet, who won first place in the American Virtuoso International Music Competition.  They will be performing at Carnegie Hall during the Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Congratulations to the Falcons who attended HOSA’s International Leadership Conference this past June.  Our students should be proud of their hard work and dedication to qualify for this competition.  The following students were noted for their exemplary performances:

    • Kylie Zhang: Gold rank of the Barbara James Service Award, for over 250 verified hours of health-related volunteering.
    • Vaishnavi Uppalapati: Silver rank of the Barbara James Service Award, for over 175 verified hours of health-related volunteering.
    • Nivedha Bhogavilli, Aryan Dhakal, Yeshash Sree Chinta, and Adithi Doddi: Bronze rank of the Barbara James Service Award, for over 100 verified hours of health-related volunteering.
    • Arjun Mujumdar: Placed 10th at ILC in the test competition of the roles and skills of a Biomedical Equipment Technician.  
    • Sara Jahangir, Ananya Ramesh, Ashley Guan, Smrithi Karthik, Prisha Lamichhanne: A-rank for their work in Hilarity for Charity: an organization aimed at supporting and equipping individuals and their friends and families impacted by Alzheimer’s with education, community, and humor.  These students passed multiple courses the organization offers to be recognized as such, and some made a brief PSA video on the topic.
    • Bryce Fowlkes and Anthony Yoon: 6th and 7th, respectively, in the National Geographic Learning Academy Testing Center for Future Health Professionals, specifically in the test for Anatomy & Physiology.
  • I am excited to share with our entire school community the MCPS feature on the monumental Ribbon Cutting for the Renewed PHS. 

  • This week, Poolesville High School was named the Number 1 high school in MCPS and the number 2 public high school in the state of Maryland by the US News and World Report.  Congratulations to our entire school community.  Thank you to the students, staff, parents, caregivers, and community members who continue to contribute to the legacy of success at Poolesville High School. 
  • Congratulations to Nolan Chen for his essay submission in the history category of the John Locke Essay Competition for moving onto the next round of selection.  Nolan’s submission is currently considered in the top 17.5% out of 100,227 entries from 183 countries.
  • Congratulations to Andrew Civillico for his inclusion in the MCPS America 250 publication.  You can see Andrew’s entry and the entire MCPS celebration of the United States of America’s Semiquincentennial here.

Staff Success

  • Big Congratulations and an overwhelming amount of Gratitude to our amazing athletic director, Ms. Gina Grubb.  As the reigning MCPS Athletic Director of the Year, Ms. Grubb is an incredible resource and trusted adult for our student-athletes.  Ms. Grubb puts in countless hours working behind the scenes to make sure our student-athletes have everything they need and our athletic spaces are ready for practices and competitions.  As we conclude Athletic Director Appreciation Week, I hope everyone extends a big “Thank you!” to Ms. Grubb for everything she does for our students and school administrators.
