Important Information for the Fall Sports Season

As we prepare for the first day of tryouts and practices on August 9, 2023, here is is some important information for the fall sports season. 

High School Fall Sports Registration

Registration for high school fall sports is available through ParentVUE. Tryouts and practices for high schools start on August 9, 2023; details regarding tryout/practice logistics are available through the local school and team(s). Systemwide resources are available on the MCPS Athletics webpage.

Middle School Fall Sports Registration

Registration for middle school fall sports will open through ParentVUE on August 14, 2023 at noon. Tryouts and practices for middle schools start on September 12, 2023; details regarding tryout/practice logistics are available through the local school and team(s). Systemwide resources are available on the MCPS Athletics webpage.

Sports Medicine Program & Certified Athletic Trainers

MCPS Athletics is excited to launch an enhanced sports medicine program for the 2023-24 school year! Included in the program are full-time, 12-month certified athletic trainers and a partnership with MedStar Health. Athletic trainers have been hired and have started in all 25 MCPS high schools! New for the 2023-24 school year - athletic trainers are now MCPS employees, who will provide streamlined and enhanced care for student-athletes and across the program. More info to come about this exciting, innovative initiative. In the meantime, be sure to meet and connect with your athletic trainer!

Health & Safety - Fall Heat Plan & Hydration

Students, coaches, and parents/guardians should review and become familiar with the Health & Safety webpage for MCPS Athletics. The MCPS Fall Heat Plan will guide operations during the opening weeks of the fall season. Additionally, information and resources are available regarding proper hydration and weather guidelines. Please review this information in advance of the season.

Schedules

Schedules will be posted on countysportszone.com and on local school websites when confirmed. Fall schedules are posted, winter schedules have been released to schools and are being uploaded, and spring schedules are undergoing final review.
