About Us
Thomas S. Wootton High School is a place of learning where students thrive. Our school is a large comprehensive high school located in Montgomery County, Maryland, which services students in the communities of Rockville, Potomac, North Potomac, and Gaithersburg.
We have a diverse student body and a staff of trained educators who uphold the values of the school and surrounding community. Our school has twice received the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence designation, and more recently, we have been consistently listed as one of the top high schools in the U.S. by the Washington Post and U.S. News and World Report. Wootton High School boasts a graduation rate of nearly 100%. Over 90% of the student body are enrolled in Honors and AP classes or access early college programs through Dual Enrollment with Montgomery College. More than 70% of our graduates score three or better on AP examinations, and 95% of Wootton students go to college. The school’s program of study offers a variety of academically rigorous Signature and Special Programs in science, technology, and the humanities. Wootton High School houses a number of nurturing Special Education programs including Learning and Academic Disabilities (LAD), Secondary Autism Services, and School and Community Based (SCB) programs. Wootton students are active in all of the county-approved athletic offerings and excel on and off the field. Wootton students are also able to pursue interests outside of their academic program with over 100 clubs and organizations available to students to join. Many students participate in the arts program which include numerous music programs along with theater, art, fashion, ceramics, photography, and much more. Wootton is best known for its excellent academic program and the high quality instruction provided to students which prepares students to become lifelong learners all while becoming informed productive citizens.
