Meet the Administration
Linda M. Jones, Principal
I am truly honored to be the principal of Stonegate Elementary School located in Silver Spring, Maryland. I joined the Stonegate family in July 2014 and know firsthand that this is a school community where students come first and the staff believe all students can achieve at high levels. I have appreciated the opportunity to work with amazing students, staff, and a supportive school community. I have been inspired by a strong work ethic, a dedication to excellence, and a clear focus on doing what is best for students. I have just completed my 9th year as principal of Stonegate and I have worked hard to continue the tradition of dedication, collaboration, and service at Stonegate Elementary School.
While my parents like to tell the story of how I was almost born in Germany, I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Morgan State University, a Masters of Education in Reading from Towson University, and a certificate in Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College. I am entering my 25th year in education serving students and communities. I spent ten years in the Howard County Public School System as classroom teacher and team leader and two years in Baltimore City serving as classroom teacher and as a reading coach. I am currently entering my 15th year in the Montgomery County Public School System, where I have served previously as a reading specialist, assistant principal, and principal Intern. I live in Owings Mills, Maryland with my husband and my daughter, Ava Rose. I enjoy shopping, going to the movies, snow tubing, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and most of all being with my daughter Ava. I also love smoothies from Smoothie King. I am a huge basketball fan and my favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers.
As the principal of Stonegate, my professional mission is to ensure the success of all students. I will continue to work to foster trust and positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the entire school community. As someone who is learning and growing professionally daily, I look forward to the new challenges that this experience continues to offer. I am beyond thrilled to continue to be the principal of Stonegate Elementary School and to be a Stonegate Shark.
The class of 2020 was my first class that I started with in kindergarten and supported them through their fifth grade year. This was a proud moment for me to take students from kindergarten to fifth grade. I am inspired by my students and all that they have to offer to our world.

Franny Wooler, Assistant Principal
Hello Stonegate Families,
This summer, we have been reflecting on powerful, impactful moments in our lives. I grew up in New York City, in a working class, immigrant community. As a teenager, I worked with some elementary school students in my neighborhood. I was struck with their academic need, and frustrated with the school’s trouble to meet the students’ and families’ needs. Even though it was many years ago, it was a powerful moment that stays with me even today. I committed back then to spend my career in schools, serving students, families, and teachers.
Many around me were not surprised about my love of teaching. I come from a long line of educators. In the Dominican Republic, my grandfather was a high school math teacher for 60 years, starting around 1945. My mother was a preschool teacher and later, a school and district administrator. My sister, nephew, and sister-in-law are all educators here in MCPS. In our family, we have generations of committing and serving in our communities as educators.
I am honored and grateful to be joining the Stonegate community. I have spent the last two decades working in MCPS schools right here in Silver Spring. I have served at Galway Elementary, Roscoe Nix Elementary, Burnt Mills Elementary, and most recently as a county-wide Instructional Specialist for English Language Development.
I am a University of Maryland, College Park graduate for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Currently, I live in Silver Spring with my family-- my husband, Nate, our two boys, Owen (9) and Dylan (7), and our Boston Terrier, Pixie.
I am so proud and honored to be serving in the Stonegate school community. I look forward to connecting with you!
