Dr. Tiffany N. Awkard
Principal
Welcome to Silver Creek Middle School. I am very excited to welcome all of our students, staff, and families to the 2023-2024 school year. It is with great pleasure to serve as your principal this school year. I feel very fortunate to continue to lead the Silver Creek Community. I love the “middle years” and serving our kids in middle school. I enjoy exploring the endless possibilities of what students are capable of becoming and being a part of this exploration and discovery is very exciting and rewarding.
My goal is to ensure every child has multiple opportunities to reach their greatest potential. One of my most important roles is being a mother. As the parent of three kids in Montgomery County Public Schools including one at the middle school level, I am keenly aware of the social, emotional and academic needs kids face during this time of growth and development. In doing so, I recognize the importance of relationships and the school-to-home partnership. Parents are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure students’ holistic needs are met.
We must work together to ensure all students feel safe, inspired to learn and to foster an environment where all students feel a sense of belonging. Our commitment to our school community will always be to keep kids first and to foster our vision of Empathy, Equity and Excellence (E3) for all. As a Husky, these core values reflect our actions daily as we continue to embrace the rich diversity that makes us who we are as a school. I look forward to working with you all this school year!
Mrs. Kimberly Heidler
Assistant Principal
Welcome to Silver Creek Middle School! I am so excited to be starting my 7th year as an assistant principal at Silver Creek. I had the honor of being on the inaugural staff that opened Silver Creek in 2017. Our outstanding staff, amazing students, and supportive parents are why I choose to remain and call Silver Creek my “second home”. This year I have the privilege of being the 6th grade administrator as well as continuing to support the rising 8th graders with last names A-K. I also supervise the English/Reading/English Language Development (ELD), World Studies, and Science/Technology departments.
In addition to being an educator, I am a mother first and foremost. I have two wonderful daughters. One is a senior at a high school in an MCPS and the other graduated from the University of Maryland and will be starting a specialized nursing program at Drexel University. My girls help ground my work with children. I treat all students with the same respect and care that I expect from the adults that engage with my girls. My goal as an educator and administrator is to provide students with opportunities they may not otherwise be given to explore their interests, challenge their thinking, and build their self-confidence. The welcoming, safe, and supportive environment cultivated at Silver Creek Middle School also makes this possible by empowering students to be themselves and to find their voice. What I cherish most about the middle years is watching and supporting your children as they grow and mature from the nervous and unsure 6th graders into the caring, empathetic, and accepting 8th graders ready to take on the world. The journey, including the challenges along the way, are what make middle school so unique and memorable.
I look forward to getting to know your child even more this year and to partnering with you to ensure their success. Together, we can make the 2023-2024 school year one of the very best!

Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am so proud to serve as one of the assistant principals at Silver Creek Middle School. This is my 4th year as an administrator here at Silver Creek. I previously was the content specialist for the English, Reading, and ESOL department since the opening of the school in 2017. This school year, I am so excited to be the 7th grade administrator as well as continue to support our rising 8th grade students as the 8th grade administrator for last names L-Z. I also supervise the Math, Special Education, Visual/Performing Arts and World Language departments.
On a personal note, I have two amazing children who attend elementary school in MCPS. I love to read, play tennis, and enjoy watching both my kids play baseball. I am dedicated to helping all students succeed. My goal this school year is to help ensure that all of our students have equitable academic outcomes and are inspired to learn. This is an exciting time for our children as they transition from elementary to middle school. I look forward to supporting their social, emotional, and academic growth throughout the middle school years. It's going to be a great school year!
