MCPS Requirements for Volunteers
We value and appreciate our volunteers who work in our offices, classrooms, or media center, as well as those who assist us on field trips. All volunteers who support our school must take the Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect online module by accessing the parent portal. Upon completion, volunteers will receive notification in the portal of your completion. You may bring a copy of your completion to the main office, before volunteering. Click on the link below for more information about volunteering in MCPS and to access the online module:

How often do I need to complete the Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Online Module?
Volunteers are required to complete the training every three years. If you are new parents to Sherwood, or current parents who have not participated in volunteer training in the past, you must complete the Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect online module before volunteering this school year. If you completed the training between the 2020 - 2022, you do not need to take it in the 2022 - 2023 school year. The schedule for renewed training is as follows:
- Training completed in 2019 - 2020 or in earlier years: Renew training in 2020 - 2023
- Training completed in 2020 - 2021: Renew training in 2023 - 2024
- Training completed in 2021 - 2022: Renew training in 2024 - 2025
- Training completed in 2022 - 2023: Renew training in 2025 - 2026
