Occupational Therapy
The therapy department at Carl Sandburg Learning Center is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of therapists who support and enhance the work being performed in the classrooms to implement the students’ individualized education programs (IEPs).
The team consists of occupational and physical therapists as well as speech and language pathologists who infuse activities of daily living, communication, and mobility into the classroom curricula. Therapy sessions are provided in a variety of arenas including the motor room, in the classroom and during specials.
Additionally, Carl Sandburg Learning Center has a motor room equipped with a wide array of sensory and exercise equipment. All of our therapists keep up to date with the latest developments in their respective fields by attending continuing education courses that address evolving curricula, technology, and therapeutic skills.
