Parent Information for Grade 6 Residential Program
The Grade 6 residential program is part of the MCPS curriculum and fulfills state and local requirements in a variety of curriculum areas, including science, social studies, and environmental literacy. Therefore, it is an expectation that all 6th-grade students will participate in the program. No child should miss this opportunity due to financial need, learning differences, or other unique circumstances. MCPS is committed to providing the support needed for all 6th graders to have a successful and enjoyable outdoor education experience.
Each middle school is assigned dates and a site for its grade six outdoor environmental education program and each school creates its own instructional schedule, including classes and activities. Questions about program dates, specific scheduling details, costs, and volunteer opportunities can be directed to the school.
