Academic Awards and Arts Legacy Awards at Loiederman Middle School
Academic Awards
The awards below are given out annually to students who are completing their 8th grade year at Loiederman. They are selected by the 8th grade teachers at the school and awarded during the ceremony that marks the conclusion of a student's time at Loiederman. In addition to these awards, students at Loiederman may be recognized through the honor roll, on a roll (for students who do not make honor roll but are improving their grades), and through 8th grade student superlatives (which are voted on by the 8th grade class).
Brian K. Betts Great Strides Award (Most Improved)
The Brian K. Betts Great Strides Award is given to students who have consistently improved and persisted in academics and made increasingly good decisions over time. The award is named in honor of Mr. Betts, the founding magnet coordinator at Loiederman. Mr. Betts believed in kids, in the importance of second chances and in the value of persistence. He embraced the whole-school magnet design of Loiederman because it helped to even the playing field and empowered all students to access engaging academic and arts classes.
Lion’s Pride Award (Emulates all the ROAR characteristics)
The Lion’s Pride Award is given to students who have consistently exhibited the components of strong character – trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
Loiederman Legacy Award (Well-rounded Achievements)
Loiederman Legacy Award is given to students who have consistently demonstrated outstanding character, excelled academically, and made outstanding contributions to school activities. We are very proud of our school’s namesake and know that Mr. Loiederman would be proud of the students who will be receiving this award.
