KMS Summer Mailing 1

Dear Kingsview Families:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  I hope you are enjoying the summer reconnecting with family and friends.  I also hope you are looking forward to the start of a new year.  It has been an exciting summer thus far.  I have worked with my incredible administrative and leadership teams to hire great staff who are committed to providing students with quality instruction every day.  I look forward to collaborating with students, parents, and staff to continue our legacy of excellence and build on our achievement in the upcoming year.

FIRST DAYWe are very excited to welcome all of our students on Monday, August 28th.  We are excited to have a typical experience as masks are not required to enter the building.  However, students can choose to wear a mask to enter the building. All students will report directly to their homerooms by 8:15 a.m. in order to receive their schedules and other important information. Posters containing homeroom lists will be displayed around the school, and the information will be available in the Back-to-School Resource Bank on the Kingsview website in mid-August.

SCHOOL SCHEDULE – Classes will begin at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.  Students should arrive between 7:50 a.m. and 8:05 a.m.  Please note that students are not able to enter the school each morning until 7:50 a.m.  Staff members are not available before 7:50 a.m. to supervise students. Students should be picked up by 3:15 p.m.

ORIENTATION DAY - We are very excited to welcome incoming 6th grade students, as well as 7th and 8th grade students new to the Kingsview MS building, on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Students are encouraged to participate to learn about the school and to ensure a smooth transition on the first day.  This is NOT a drop-in event.  All students who participate will be expected to remain in school for the entire orientation.

UPCOMING EVENTS - There are several summer events you don't want to miss.  Please check out the Upcoming Events page and mark your calendars!

SUMMER INFORMATION – In an effort to save paper, we will not be sending a summer mailing to the student's home address.  All items below will be available on the Kingsview website in August at http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/kingsviewms

I am happy to announce the members of our administrative team!   This school year, Ms. Anita O’Neill, formerly an assistant principal at Blake High School, has joined our staff as a principal intern.  As a principal intern, Ms. O’Neill will perform the duties of an assistant principal while simultaneously shadowing the principal and preparing for her future role as a principal.  I am excited and pleased to accept this professional opportunity to serve as a trainer and believe that our school and community will provide an excellent environment to prepare a future principal.

This school year, Ms.  Sohee Cho will be the 6th grade administrator; Ms. Anita O’Neill will be the 7th grade administrator; and Mr. Matthew Freiman will be the 8th grade administrator.  Ms. Cho, Ms. O’Neill, Mr. Freiman, and I look forward to working together to serve you in the upcoming year!
