Study Strategies---6th grade
This course is an excellent addition to the arts exploration rotation. Students will learn a variety of strategies to help them be successful in school. Here are just some of the valuable topics students practiced in this course; notebook organization, time management, test taking strategies, and note taking skills. Using games, projects and other fun techniques, students will be motivated and encouraged for academic success. Students have found this course helps them make an easy transition to middle school and beyond.
Study Strategies—College Prep 7th grade
This course is a continuation of the 6th grade Study Strategies course. Students will continue to practice organizational routines such as organizing their binder and focusing on time management. In addition, students will discover ways technology can assist them in learning. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice keyboarding skills. In addition ,there is a college prep component to this course. Students will recognize the value of a college education, explore a variety of colleges and learn how a college degree increases career options. This course motivates students to focus on their individual strengths and talents, and to start long term planning for the future.
Computer Discoveries-8th Grade
Kingsview is excited to offer this new computer course. Students will have a “hands on” opportunity to learn some of the following computer applications:
- Word Processing
- Keyboarding
- Digital Graphics
- Digital Images
- Media Literacy
- .Graphs/Spreadsheets
- Multimedia/Animation
In addition, students demonstrate technical mastery by creating authentic computer products that will be used for their school work or for someone in their community.
At the end of the course, electronic portfolios will show a collection of the skills learned in the course. Each portfolio will reflect the students' unique technology abilities, interests, achievements, talents, skills, community involvement, and creativity.
