Spring 2022 Update
Internships are scheduled to start in person for the 2021-22 school year. Internship Coordinators will use the approved MCPS forms and agreements to confirm student Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences with employers. Students will not be required to complete the WBL COVID waiver form to participate in an in-pesron WBL experience. Additionally, WBL experiences may include virtual internships and/or a hybrid internship (wherein the employer facilitates a WBL experience that includes a virtual and an in-person WBL schedule). Finally, students will have the option to start their WBL experience with a capstone project and transition to an in-person and/or virtual internship experience when the opportunity becomes available with an employer.
Is an Internship Right for You?
- Do you want exposure to a career prior to high school graduation?
- Do you think your academic studies have prepared you for the "real world"?
- Are you ready to explore a work-based learning opportunity using background knowledge?
- Are you creative and interested in building a current industry professional network that can guide you to college and career?
- Do you want to experience hands-on practice with business partners, yet still have strict guidance from the Internship Coordinator?
Agreement and Internship Forms
- High School Internship Program Agreement
- Intern Performance Evaluation
- Employer Satisfaction Survey
- Summer Experience Verification Form
- The Summer Experience Verification form is for rising juniors and seniors enrolled in a Career and Technology Education (CTE) program of study (POS), which requires an internship as a capstone completion option, and who would like to earn the required hours through a career-related summer experience.
- The form must be completed by the student, the Internship Coordinator, and the counselor.
Transportation to Internship
Students are required to arrange their own transportation to their internship. MCPS does not provide transportation for student interns. Please speak with Ms. Furr if you need assistance with arranging public transportation. Students who require public transportation should look for an internship near their school or home.
