Visual Art Grading and Reporting

Students will be assessed in two areas related to art content:

  • Creating Art: Students demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the art content through appropriate use of tools and techniques to create art.
  • Responding to Art: Students demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the art content through their ability to talk about art using appropriate vocabulary.

These areas will be scored on a 4, 3, 2, 1 scale and averaged for the final O, S, N report card grade.

Scores on Assessments = Report Card Grade
(4) Independently applies the content or processes with no major errors. = O - Outstanding
(3) Demonstrates understanding of the content or processes with no major errors. = S - Satisfactory
(2) Demonstrates understanding of simpler content or processes with no major errors. = N - Needs Improvement
(1) With help, demonstrates partial understanding of the simpler content or processes with some errors. = N - Needs Improvement
