School & Community News…

⭐Local Summer Program (LSP): Burtonsville ES is a host site for a three-week local summer school program this year from July 10th to July 28th,  9:30 am - 2:00 pm. Transportation and a bag lunch will be provided.  A limited number of students have been invited to attend.  If your child received an invitation and you have not responded, please do so as soon as possible.  If your child did not receive an invitation, but you wish for them to attend, please complete the interest form linked here to be placed on a waiting list. 

⭐Burtonsville’s Got Talent🎤:  Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the multipurpose room.  Come out and show your support for our STARS as they take the stage and share their talents.  Our PTA will sell slices of pizza during the event. This is an event you do not want to miss!  (Event flyer)

⭐Lost & Found - Please remind your child(ren) to stop by and look for their missing items in the lost and found. The number of items continues to increase and includes, shirts, hoodies, jackets, hats, lunchboxes, water bottles, eyeglasses, etc.  All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity on June 20th.

Anti-Racist System Action Plan - BES Community:  During the May 2nd PTA meeting we shared a summary of our antiracist audit survey data; specific results, the work we have done so far, and action plans for continuous improvement.   If you were unable to attend the meeting or would simply like a copy of what was discussed, Click here to learn more.    


A Message from our PTA… 

Volunteers wanted for Beautification Day on June 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will be working on the garden beds, the pond in the courtyard, and picking up trash around the school.


County News…

Literacy Council Offers Free ESL Classes For MCPS Parents: In collaboration with MCPS, the Literacy Council of Montgomery County (LCMC) is offering free English as a Second Language classes for MCPS parents. The classes will be held virtually and in person, and there are options for all levels of English speakers. They are available to any MCPS parent for whom English is not their first language.
