Allies 4 Equality, Blake’s Gay-Straight Alliance, welcomes any student who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning and their straight allies. Our meetings are student-run with teacher support. Everyone’s privacy is honored and no one is asked to declare their sexual orientation or gender identity, although anyone is welcome to share. What is said in the meeting stays in the meeting. Our mission is to: Create a safe environment in our school for students to support each other and learn about homophobia and other oppressions. Description: Students design, create, write, edit, publish, market and sell a yearbook for Blake High School. In this class, students use computers, digital cameras, photo editing software and design software as well as the Internet and social media. By the end of the year, students will have created a yearbook that will inform the school community about the clubs, activities and sports available to students as well as providing an entertaining presentation of the interests of the student body at this point in time.
